Now the theme for this month is "Something New" all of the Twine-istas will be sharing creations that may include, a new technique, new color of twine or a new product from the store that we have never used yet or using a new tool to do our projects etc.
I have several different pictures showing step by step how to make this fun project. I will first post the finished project then the steps will follow.
*WARNING: Lot's of pictures! But it is worth scrolling down to see how this was created!!
Love Canvas
Step 1: Start with a blank colored canvas. I started with a mint green canvas from My Minds Eye.
It doesn't matter the size this technique will work with any size of canvas
Next take your Timeless Twine (I chose the color Cherry Red)
and spell the word you would like to spell.
Next take your hot glue gun and go over the letters
(this is a layering technique so be sure to let each layer of glue dry before you move to the next step) It is ok if it looks a little messy when you are done it will look great!!
Now you are going to take your Gellatos and start to color lightly on your canvas.
I used several different colors.
After your colors are on the canvas take a water brush and water and blend your colors. The Gellatos will turn to a watercolor paint! So fun. Now remember this step is done in layers so be sure the layer is dry before you move to the next layer. NOTE: you can use some white paint and dilute with water and splatter on the canvas at the end. You also can go over the canvas with some paint and scrape on with a spatula for a more dramatic look*
Here is the finished product with the fun products used!!
*I took a black paint pen and doodled some hearts and Astrix on my canvas to add just a little bit of dimension.
Things you will need to complete this project:
Canvas, Timeless Twine, Hot Glue gun and sticks, Gellatos, paintbrushes, cup of water, spatula, white paint and a black paint marker.
The thing that was "NEW" to me was this technique! I love how the hot glue is transparent and offers a nice glossy finish to the twine. And the contrast of the coloring of the Gellatos made the canvas POP!!!!
HERE is the Cherry Red Twine that was used.
